What is pure tungsten?
The pure tungsten is a metal ranging in color from steel gray to tin white. Because of its extremely high melting point, it is not cast but is produced by sintering and then shaped by forging, extrusion, or drawing.

Depending on the application, it is used in its pure form or as an alloy: tungsten-lanthanum, copper-tungsten, tungsten-rhenium, tungsten-thorium, or heavy tungsten alloys.

The Properties of Pure Tungsten
With a melting point of 3,422 °C, pure tungsten has the highest melting point of any metal and retains its tensile strength above 1,650 °C. It is the material of choice for the most extreme thermal environments.
The pure tungsten has a density similar to that of gold and a very high Young's modulus (≈ 406 GPa). Its hardness and density make it suitable for use in counterweights, heat sinks, and military applications.
Its coefficient of thermal expansion, which is similar to that of borosilicate glass, allows for leak-tight glass-to-metal bonds. The Pure tungsten is also highly resistant to mineral acids.

Thanks to its exceptional properties, pure tungsten is used in TIG welding, electronics, energy, defense, and the mining and oil industries—from high-voltage circuit breaker arc contacts to custom-made.
