The main component of the molybdenum-zirconium alloy is Mo-(1.5% ~ 2.0%)ZrO₂. Due to the doping of finely dispersed ZrO₂ particles to reinforce the molybdenum matrix, it has fine grains and exhibits excellent creep and corrosion resistance.
The molybdenum-zirconium alloy, also known as Mo-Zr, is a metallic composite that combines the unique properties of molybdenum (Mo) and zirconium (Zr).
It can have different chemical compositions depending on the specific requirements of the application. However, here is a typical chemical composition for this alloy:
- Molybdenum (Mo): Approximately 90% to 98% by weight
- Zirconium (Zr): Approximately 2% to 10% by weight
The exact percentages may vary depending on the application requirements and the desired properties of the alloy. The combination of these two elements results in a material with specific characteristics—such as heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength—depending on the proportions used.
This combination offers outstanding performance in a variety of industrial applications.
The main characteristics of the Mo-Zr alloy
Heat resistance
The molybdenum-zirconium alloy offers excellent heat resistance, making it ideal for high-temperature environments, such as aerospace applications and heat treatment processes.
Corrosion Resistance
Thanks to the presence of zirconium, which is known for its exceptional corrosion resistance, the Mo-Zr alloy offers enhanced protection against corrosive environments.
