Molybdenum Lanthanum

The main component of the molybdenum-lanthanum alloy is Mo-(0.6%–1.2%)La₂O₃. The rare-earth oxide La₂O₃ is added to pure molybdenum. After deformation treatment, the uniformly distributed La₂O₃ particles exhibit good resistance to dislocations. The strong pinning effect gives molybdenum alloys good mechanical properties at high temperatures.

The molybdenum-lanthanum alloy, often abbreviated as Mo-La, is a metallic composite that combines the distinctive properties of molybdenum (Mo) with those of lanthanum (La). It can have different chemical compositions depending on the specific requirements of the application. However, here is a typical chemical composition for this alloy:

  • Molybdenum (Mo): Approximately 97% to 99%
  • Lanthanum (La): About 1% to 3%

The exact percentages may vary depending on the application requirements and the desired properties of the alloy. The combination of these two elements results in a material with specific characteristics—such as heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength—depending on the proportions used.
